Learn Bowel Sounds with Me 💩🩺
💩Bowel sounds are the noises made by intestines as food moves through. Using a stethoscope you can listen to these sounds to check digestive health.
Hollow, High Pitched Tinkles ✨
👉🏼These sounds are a telltale sign of a small bowel obstruction. They occur when liquid and gas are under pressure within a dilated gut.
Gurgling Sounds ✨
👉🏼These low-pitched sounds, occurring every 5-10 seconds, indicate normal bowel activity.
Borborygmi ✨
👉🏼These noises are caused by the movement of gas and fluids through the intestines during digestion. They’re a normal part of your gut’s activity.
Hypoactive Sounds ✨
👉🏼Hypoactive bowel sounds are heard less than 5 times per minute during auscultation. This can indicate slowed intestinal activity, often seen post-surgery, with certain medications, or in cases of constipation.
Hyperactive Sounds ✨
👉🏼These high-pitched, frequent noises occur when your digestive system is working overtime, often more than 30 sounds per minute. They can signal an overactive gut, sometimes due to conditions like gastroenteritis or early bowel obstruction.
