EAS 2018 conference: "Competences in Music Education"
Every day in their classrooms teachers face a diversity of knowledge and skill levels in their students, who come from varied backgrounds and have different personalities. How can we develop our understanding of curriculum design and pedagogical practice to best serve our students in developing competences in music education?
What is the nature of competences in music education? What can we understand about developing these competences from studying learning outcomes throughout Europe in the light of local history and traditions in music education? What are the various theoretical approaches to developing competences in music education?
Music is both the source and the result of a particular way of understanding and engaging with the world. How can we give our students a positive developmental experience through listening to music and learning to play musical instruments?
This three-day conference ‘Competences in Music Education’ in Jelgava, Latvia will provide an opportunity for educators and practitioners, researchers and planers, to meet with experienced workshop leaders and lecturers to question, share, and discover new resources for teaching competences in music education.
