Nepal is blessed to be the Birthplace of Lord Buddha. There are many holy pilgrimage sites for Buddhists throughout Nepal. Though, we were not able to visit holy sites in other parts of Nepal, we tried to visit few important sites in Kathmandu. We started with the Boudhanath Stupa and visited other holy sites in Thamel area. One of friend from Bhutan told us that there are more than 50 sites in Thamel area only. We visited the temple where holy scripture or sutra called Prajanaparamitra (Sergi Lekbum in Bhutanese and Tibetan language) is kept. The name of the temple is known as Bikramsila Mahabihar and it is located right opposite to the Chaya Centre in Thamel. We then visited the Altar of Dolma/Tara Sungjoenma in Itumbahal area. After that, we visited the temple of Zamling Karmo popularly known as Sheto Maschindra in Nepali language. Then we went to seek blessings from the Mahankal/Mahakala temple. On the way, we visited the temple of Tshongpon Norbu Zangpo and Kala Bhairav also known as Dre Nagchung in Bhutanese language. These site are located within the shopping hub of Thamel and we got see many stores offering trekking gears, silk brocades, whole sale items etc. Finally, concluded our day with a kora (circumambulation) of Boudha Chorten…
