According to the back of the vinyl sleeve, Ihor Shuhan was born in Ukraine and emigrated to the US with his parents after World War II. While in the US, he studied under Joseph Hirniak and Olympia Dobrovolska. Before this record was released, Shuhan unexpectedly died. The short biography does not specify how.
This record covers ten traditional Ukrainian folk songs and (I'm pretty sure) was recorded live at the Verkhovyna Resort in Glen Spey, New York. There are some cool songs on here, my favorite being B2. I previously posted a different version of A2 by Веселі часи (Veseli Chasy), but that was more folk rock, and this is just folk.
