PUNAR PRATISTA OF KHANAPUR SHAKA MATH BELGAUM
This matha is situated on the banks of the Malprabha river in Khanapur village, Belgaum District, Karnataka, and houses three divine samadhis. The matha was built during the time of Shree Ramananda Saraswati in approximately 1758 AD. The Panchmukhi idol of Shree Mangesh Shankar (Uma-Maheshwar) is worshiped in this matha. The Peshwas donated the township of Manasapur for the upkeep of the matha. During the riots of Kittur, the matha was looted, resulting in the loss of gold and silver worth lakhs of rupees, along with records of grants given to the matha.
Khanapur Shakha Math was the second headquarters after Mool Math at Kavalem and Guru Swami Shrimad Sachidanand Saraswati Maharaj was given Sanyas Deeksha on the banks of Malaprabha River by then Mathadhipati Shrimad Poornanand Saraswati Swami Maharaj. This Math has witnessed many Shishya Sweekar, Chaturmas Vrata Acharan, Yati Samagam & Anusthans During Mokkam of various Yativaryas.
