The number one indicator as to you needing to repot your snake plant is if the roots are growing from the outside bottom of your pot. If the roots are growing from the bottom outside of your pot, this means that the roots want more area to grow. By repotting your snake plant, you’re giving your plant more nutrients and surface area for the roots to grow into.
The first step to repot a snake plant is to remove the plant from the pot. You can gently massage the roots so that they can be broken up a little bit or you can just leave them as is. If your plant has babies growing around the outside rim of the pot, you should probably just remove those and replant them in a different pot.
You will need to find a new pot that is larger and size to put your snake plant into. On average when you replant a house plant, the pot size should be at least 1 inch larger in diameter, but no larger than 2 inches.
