"ABOVE all vote" was the message sent out by Eddie Izzard as he walked the streets of Grays this morning.
Mr Izzard is a Labour supporter and has aspirations to one day be an MP or mayor of London.
But before that he had come to Thurrock to support Polly Billington in her campaign to be the next MP for Thurrock.
We caught up with Eddie Izzard just next to the level crossing on Grays.
Labour candidate Polly Billington welcomed comedian Eddie Izzard to Grays who came to support her campaign in Thurrock. They met local shoppers and talked about Labour's offer to them in the upcoming General Election.
Polly said "Residents were keen to talk to Eddie. People told us that they want a government that will tackle the cost of living and create good quality jobs here in Thurrock. They were also concerned about our health service and what would happen to the NHS if we have another five years of the Tories, especially if they're propped up by UKIP".
Eddie Izzard called on people in Thurrock to back Polly, he said "I encourage you to vote for Polly Billington in Thurrock... She's feisty and fights very hard and she will fight great for Thurrock. If you want to make a difference you can only do that by voting, its very close here in Thurrock... If you want a better deal for yourself, young people and working people then vote Labour, vote for Polly Billington"
Afterwards the Labour campaign team walked down to South Essex College. They met with local students and spoke about the importance of voting, followed by lunch in Waves prepared by local students at the campus.
