'Crime Story' (1986) ran for two seasons on NBC; the network was happy to sign on to the concept of a single storyline that would last an entire season given producer Michael Mann's recent success with 'Miami Vice'. The first season began in 60s Chicago and ended up in 80's Vegas. Even an atom bomb going off at the end of season one couldn't keep the characters from coming back for a second go-round. Stylish photography and top guest stars were hallmarks of the show, but it only lasted two years. The theme song, 'Runaway', by Del Shannon and Max Crook, had been a hit for Shannon; he was happy to re-record it for the show, with slightly altered lyrics to fit the series' storyline.
