This morning we decided, last minute, to take the hop on hop off trolley from the cruise port, while traveling with Princess Cruises on the Caribbean Princess in July 2023.

There were a couple of options to purchase the tickets...

1. You could purchase the Hop On Hop Off Tour from the cruise line... in our case, Princess cruises for $80, and have the trolley pick you up steps from disembarking the vessel,

or...

2. You could walk literally 2 minutes away from the cruise ship, and line up at the booth, and have a longer wait (as the people who buy directly from the cruise ship get to board first), and only pay $60 per person.

From this video, you will see that we opted for the lesser expensive option. We paid $120 for us as a couple, whereas we would have paid $160 if we bought from the cruise line.

We ended up waiting for an hour in the heat. There was no shade at the "further" stop, and every time the trolley came to pick us up, there was only room to load a handful of people, if any.

We waited for 4 trolleys to go by before the company thought of adding additional buses!

The advice would be either pay more in the beginning, or go to the less expensive booth and get there EARLY, or get to the booth after lunch when the novelty of getting on the trolley is over!

We had a great time doing the Boston, MA loop tour. We ended up doing the loop once, which took us 2 hours, but it was filled with historical stories, jokes, and more. We had a great time. We went back to the ship for lunch, and then went back ON the bus to actually get OFF of the trolley. We spent a couple of hours walking around and took more pictures.

Overall, we would highly recommend the hop on hop off trolley in Boston. The staff are all very friendly, helpful, educated, and personable.

Despite a rocky start, it was a GREAT choice of something to do when visiting Boston, MA.
