[ Ссылка ] A doctor working for a French TV reality show has committed suicide, leaving a note saying he had been unfairly criticised over the death of a contestant.
Thirty-eight year-old Thierry Costa killed himself in Cambodia, where the French version of the show 'Survivor' was being recorded.
It was halted last week after contestant Gerald Babin suffered a heart attack and died.
In a suicide note, Costa said his name had been "tarnished" in the media and there had been "unfair accusations and assumptions"
made about his treatment of Babin, who was 25 years old.
Some media outlets had carried reports criticising the amount of time it took for Babin to be treated after his collapse.
A producer of the programme, Franck Firmin-Guion, said he and others involved were "angry over anonymous witnesses, angry over untrue allegations, angry at those who spread these stories without checking if they are true".
The production company, Adventure Line Productions, said in a statement that Costa's suicide should "encourage those who accuse and comment indiscriminately to exercise responsibility".
Costa, who specialised in emergency medicine, had spent four seasons on France's longest-running reality show in which candidates must survive on an uninhabited island competing in a series of challenges.
Prosecutors in the Paris suburb of Creteil had launched a preliminary investigation into Babin's death.
