Do not cram your whole talk into your demo video. When we guide people through making a demo reel, we tell them to get a shot of themselves telling a little bit of a story, teaching part of a sequence, or making one big point.
If you have the chance to capture some audience reactions, grab that. Catch that moment where there's a huge contrast – from really high energy to telling them why your message is important.
They're not really caring about what the content is on the video. What they're looking for is whether you can hold the stage. Can you get people's reactions? Can you do what you say you're going to do?
It doesn't matter if you have video from other events you've done. If you can find a section in it, use it. It's about you being able to show that you are a professional speaker. That's the key.
