The GBH-produced ZOOM children's TV series
premiered on Jan. 9, 1972 and from its inception, the show for kids, by kids broke new ground.
With one of the first truly diverse casts, ZOOM embraced representation, shining a light on kids'
unique backgrounds, personalities and abilities. With its arts and crafts, jokes and skits, ZOOM
became a sensation, helping shape the next generation of programs. And, of course, who could forget the theme song written by music director Newton Wayland?
In honor of the show's 50th anniversary, GBH-2 will air a special broadcast of ZOOM's very first episode Sunday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. ET. For ZOOMers outside of the *0-2-1-3-4* zip code, the special will stream at the same time right here on our GBH YouTube channel and online here: bitly.com/zoom50th
