Ardbeg 10
47% ABV
Islay Single Malt
Price Rs 6000 for 700ML
As a ten year old aged whiskey this definitely packs a punch. On the nose it’s steely, faintly floral, peppery, missing oil, smells thin but quite robust somehow. It warns you of things to come.
On the palate, immediate punch, medicinal, herbal, lacking sweetness, rich and the sea spray it speaks of it comes out when you add ice and water. It’s good. But nothing exceptional. I noticed 2-3 times a weird exclamatory distasteful pepperball like glitch. I don’t know why they do it. The Ardbeg 5 does it too.
Anyway overall I had half the bottle in one sitting and I still couldn’t find the philosophers stone. Look this is pleasant, stately, governed and safe. It’s meant for a cigar smoking man in his leathered study about to eat some bacon with green pepper.
However to me it felt a bit bland. 6/10 nothing more. Id go as far as saying Wee Beastie at 5 offers more resolution.

Who am I?
I am a 39 year old person who wants to improve daily. I want everyday to have some significance.
Ardbeg 10 is considered special and highly regarded among whisky enthusiasts for several reasons:
Peat and Smoke: Ardbeg 10 is known for its robust and distinctive peaty and smoky character. The peat used in the whisky-making process imparts a unique smokiness that is characteristic of Islay Scotch whiskies. This flavor profile sets Ardbeg apart and appeals to those who enjoy bold and smoky whiskies.
Balance: Despite its intense smokiness, Ardbeg 10 is often praised for its remarkable balance. It offers a complex interplay of flavors, including notes of citrus, vanilla, and a subtle sweetness that complement the smokiness. This balance makes it approachable for both experienced whisky connoisseurs and those new to peated whiskies.
Age Statement: Ardbeg 10 carries an age statement, which means it has been aged in oak casks for a minimum of 10 years. This aging process contributes to the whisky's depth of flavor, complexity, and smoothness.
Consistency: Ardbeg is known for maintaining the quality and consistency of its flagship expression, the Ardbeg 10. Whisky enthusiasts can expect a consistent flavor profile from one bottle to the next, which is highly appreciated.
Awards and Accolades: Ardbeg 10 has received numerous awards and accolades in the whisky industry, further solidifying its reputation as a special and high-quality whisky.
Islay Distillery: Ardbeg is one of the eight distilleries on the Isle of Islay, which is known for producing some of the most iconic and sought-after peated whiskies in the world. Being part of this Islay whisky heritage adds to its allure.
Limited Production: While Ardbeg 10 is not extremely rare, it is not as widely available as some other mainstream whiskies. This limited availability can enhance its appeal to collectors and enthusiasts.
Cultural Significance: Ardbeg has a devoted fan base, often referred to as the "Ardbeg Committee," which participates in special releases and events. The distillery's commitment to engaging with its community of whisky lovers adds to the brand's special status.
Storytelling: Ardbeg, like many Scotch whisky distilleries, has a rich history and lore that it weaves into its brand narrative. The stories and traditions associated with the distillery contribute to the specialness of Ardbeg 10.
It's important to note that individual preferences vary, and not everyone may appreciate the intense smokiness of Ardbeg 10. However, for those who enjoy peaty and smoky whiskies with complexity and character, Ardbeg 10 is often considered a special and beloved choice within the world of Scotch whisky.
