The full journey on MUNI Metro's N Judah is finally here! Many of you have requested and patiently waited this video, and we are proud to showcase possibly the first-ever captured full-length journey on MUNI's busiest light rail line.
The N Judah traverses across many different neighborhoods in San Francisco. In this video, we start at 4th and King (Caltrain) in SOMA, passing by Oracle Park and under the Bay Bridge, before entering the Market Street tunnel.
We soon emerge (with a good amount of fellow passengers) at Church and Duboce, only to go underground again in the Sunset Tunnel. We emerge once more in Cole Valley, passing by UCSF Parnassus Campus before entering the Inner Sunset. From here, the train turns onto Judah from 9th, continuing west through the Outer Sunset to Ocean Beach, the end of the line.
As of the upload date of this video, the J, K/T, M and N lines have returned to train service, while the L line is still served by buses. Since the shutdown, SFMTA has modified Metro service so that inbound J Church trains terminate at Church and Duboce instead of continuing down the Market Street Subway. This was done to improve service reliability in the notoriously congested tunnels of the system. J service under Market Street is being restored in February 2022, however, along with many bus service improvements.
Most Metro trains in service at this point are the new Siemens S200 LRV4's, which is featured in this video. However, there are a handful of older Breda sets out on the rails as the system gets back to normal.
While we have filmed the N extensively in the past, we have never filmed the full length of the line until now. We hope you enjoy this journey!
