Last week I was visiting my glass factory in North China to discuss manufacturing details of the new products and to document the process for you.
In this short video you see how our new double-walled cup is being made. As you will see, the cups we offer are literally mouth-blown and hand-made.
The black brick you see in front of the worker is a machined mold, which has the precise negative of the cup shape. In the first stage, the glass pipe will be preheated and then skillfully blown into a machined mold.
Then, the upper part is separated by concentrated heating while constantly rotating the peace.
In a similar fashion, the bottom will be closed. The worker is constantly rotating the cup in one direction to create tension and, at the right moment, to pull and remove the appendix. The inner part of the cup is ready.
The outer cylinder still has the appendix to hold on. The edge will be preheated and then merged with the inner cup. While rotating, the inner cup is centered and the edge will be smoothened.
There is a lot of hard-work and passion in every cup. While similar looking, every cup is unique, just as the user of it.
