🐦🌞 With his proud call, white chest, and white eyebrow stripe our little Carolina Wren declares his place in the world with bold, brassy, boisterous calls!! 🎶🐦
🪶 Carolina Wrens are some of Chip and I's favorite birds! They are so smol, so curious, and so LOUD for their size! We usually get woken up by this little guy every morning at a little after sunrise - so we've named him Rooster! 🌞
🐦 Rooster and his mate, CHICKen (you have to really put force on the first part of her name to get it right, trust me), have been bringing their babies to our deck for the last four years that we've lived here!
It has been so much fun to watch as they haul a new brood up every spring - this year they have a huge family of FIVE fledglings to feed! 🐦🐦🐤🐤🐤🐤🐤
🌻 Thankfully they know that ~we~ are the place to be for the seeds and home-made suet that they love so much - so hopefully everyone is getting enough to eat! 🌻
Now that the babies can fly up to our third-story apartment deck and feed *themselves* Rooster and Chicken almost seem to be sighing in relief and Rooster has been taking more time to sing and mark the territory his family get to call their own - including right on our deck!! 🐦🥜🌰🌻🐦
... which is great until the whole, you know, loud song at sunrise thing, but at least Chips and I are learning to be morning birds! 🌞
