WHY ARE YOU HAVING TROUBLE READING AND SEEING UP CLOSE. This is Part 1 of our Presbyopia Playlist. We talk about presbyopia, what is it and what can you do about.
Presbyopia is the loss of your autofocus system in your eye.
Presbyopia is the normal aging change of the eye that occurs when the crystalinne lens starts to lose it's elasticity. This results in us losing our ability to focus up close. When we are young we have lots of autofocus ability but every day of our lives our crystalinne lens loses a little flexibility and as a result our point of closest focus moves further and further away.
In our late 30's, early 40's our point of closest focus gets to the distance that we normally hold things. This is when you will start to notice that it is harder to read menus and your phone. This is why people eventually require reading glasses or multi-focals.
Look for our Presbyopia playlist for options for treatment.
