In this video, I’ll show you 2 x more secrets about the Jaguar Land Rover key fob.
In my previous video, I showed how to use the physical key to open the door when the smart key was not working. In that video, I used a small screwdriver. Thanks to a viewer’s comments just this week, I can see how silly that idea is.

First of all - who carries a screwdriver just to open the door when the key itself will prise off the door keyhole cover?
To take the manual key out of the key fob you need to push in the little tab at the top on the side. The alloy manual key will pull out.
The manual key can be used to prise the fob apart should you want to replace the battery.
Once you have the alloy key out of the fob, there is one more trick to be aware of: the bottom of the cover has a small opening that the key will push into and release the clip that holds the keyhole cover on.
Just push up, you will feel the clip release, and then remove the cover.
The key fits in the keyhole and will unlock the door.
Remember that the alarm will likely sound, so you will need to put the smart key in the socket in the center console to stop the alarm.

The second secret is not so obvious

I showed previously how the button on the smart key would turn on the headlight from the outside.
Not many people know that if you press the button on the smart key twice, it turns on the reverse light should you need to illuminate something at the rear of the car.
