Apprenticeships are a vital part of the German economy and workforce. In 2023, Germany had more than 1.2 million apprentices. GACC Midwest's goal is to build on this apprenticeship success and expertise here in the US. The German American Apprenticeship & Education Foundation supports the creation and expansion of high-quality apprenticeship pathways and related education in the United States. Our workforce initiatives are designed to build momentum for debt-free career pathways.

Apprenticeship works. 85.2% of our apprentices who started with their companies in 2021 graduated this summer and took permanent roles at their companies. That’s success for the apprentices and their employers. Considering the average community college graduation rate is only about 22% in the US, these apprentices are way ahead of their peers. Not only did they graduate, they don’t have to take on debt to do it - and they all have jobs in their chosen field.
