A rehearsal room in a Viennese backyard on a cold winter evening: Bernhard Schnur and his band practice for their big concert at legendary Viennese alternative rock venue "Chelsea". Three new songs are on the set list. And, ironically, the Italian language song "Il Sole" with all its promise of and sunshine proves surprisingly intractable.
Scenes of the rehearsals in the tiny and cluttered room are intercut with the performance at the rock venue and a third, initially more puzzling story line: Bernhard Schnur at the beautiful scenery of the park of the Viennese Schönbrunn Palace.
With different means and increasing despair, Bernhard Schnur – the composer of songs like "Birds" and "Bülbül", the Turkish nightingale – is trying to attract his feathered friends. But for what purpose is he doing this? To feed them? To befriend them? Or with some other, more sinister goal in mind?
