In the 70s, one of the most controversial troubled teen schools was founded by ex-heroin addict, Joe Ricci. A forced fighting ring for misbehaving children, extended stays in isolation rooms, human faeces being poured over children as punishments.

Despite evidence of flagrant child abuse and the denial of basic human rights, the school’s abusive practises flew under the radar and it only became more popular. Today, we learn about the Elan School of New England, and go down the rabbit hole of how it operated for over 30 years.
