After years of anticipation, the 2024 Toyota Prado 4WD has finally been revealed, but Australian buyers will have to wait until mid-2024 for deliveries of the large SUV to start. That said, we've already been given our first in-person taste of the new LandCruiser 250 Series wagon.
In this walkaround preview, CarsGuide Journalist Chris Thompson gets up close and personal with the next-generation Prado. In fact, the example he interacts with is actually a development prototype that was shipped to Australia for extensive local testing ahead of the LC250's sales launch.
So, what can you expect? Well, the big news is what's not under the bonnet for Australian buyers: a 'self-charging' hybrid powertrain. While the US gets access to the most powerful option, a 48V mild-hybrid version of Toyota's familiar 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder unit is heading Down Under. Watch on.
