Known most famously for his work, "A Starry Night", 19th century artist Vincent Van Gogh is perhaps one of the most influential artists in Western culture. He created roughly 2,100 artworks, including 860 oil paintings, most of which were done in the last two years of his life. They include , homes, landscapes, still-life and self-portraits. These were characterized by bold colors and dramatic, impulsive and expressive brushwork that contributed to the foundations of modern art.
