Naomi Kent is the senior technician in the printmaking department at Birmingham City University. She specialises in letterpress printing and in particular non-linear typesetting and is inspired by the artistic printers of the late 19th century. Her MA degree looked into reviving some of these traditional obsolete printing processes using equipment available at the local school of jewellery to replicate some of these techniques. Her approach is experimental and breaks the traditional typesetting rules by the bending of the brass rules.
