Phaco chop is my preferred method of nucleo-fractis for cataract surgery. It is safe, efficient, and minimally invasive, significantly reducing the ultrasonic energy used during the procedure. We have explained the techniques of vertical chop, horizontal chop, flip and chop, combo chop, and many other variations of chop.
We can also combine the various types of chopping in the same case. Here we are using the vertical chop technique to split the nucleus into two halves. Then we use the horizontal chop technique to split each hemi-nucleus into quadrants.
