Two 'heroic' boaties are being praised after rescuing a near-hypothermic man from a tree amid rising floodwater in Queensland's far north.
Gavin Dear and a man known as Albert sprung into action with their tinnie to rescue residents displaced by rising water from the Annan River.
"A shipping container nearly smashed him flat as it floated past last night," Mr Dare said about the daring rescue.
Premier Steven Miles thanked the good Samaritans for their efforts, "We have seen incredible acts of bravery continuing today, with families saved from rooftops and locals lending a hand to look after their neighbours."
