The Jobs Support Scheme, first introduced in the Unity Budget, will now be enhanced and extended to the end of 2020, in order to help workers stay employed during the current crisis. Under the enhancements, firms will see an increase to the government’s co-funding of workers’ wages, while the monthly qualifying wage ceiling will be raised from $3,600 to $4,600. These enhancements, which total $15.1 billion, amount to more than twice the level of support provided during the Global Financial Crisis, said DPM Heng Swee Keat in his Supplementary Budget Speech in Parliament on 26 Mar 2020.
