A woman is dead and a home is heavily damaged following a house fire in Lynnwood on Sunday.
A spokesperson for South County Fire said the call came in just after noon for a two-story home in the 17900 block of 33rd Pl W that was fully engulfed in flames. Crews arrived a few minutes later and faced a very challenging firefight. Fire officials said it took approximately 20 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the fire.
Portions of the first floor had already collapsed making it difficult to search for survivors. A man in his 90s was at the home as well as a woman in her 80s when the flames broke out. The man was able to escape, but the woman ended up dying on the first floor.
