Filmed May 19th 2012 at Rowell Ranch in Castro Valley California at around 1:00 to 3:00pm. United for Animals attended Rowell Ranch Rodeo to film and document the severe abuse of the animals.
Video: The calf instinctively darts out of the chute and runs to only have a rope swung around his neck. The calf is stopped abruptly and then picked up and slammed to the ground to be tied up and then dragged and choked by the rope still around the calf's neck. You can see that the calf cannot breath, as the calf just ran and would be breathing heavily but his chest is not moving up and down. Once the rope that is around his neck and attached to the horse is loosened, you can see the calf's chest begin to rise as he tries to catch his breath. He then lays there and waits for the two cowboys to untie him. One puts his knee on the calf's neck.
