Former prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan says staying in Russia after the country had commenced its invasion of Ukraine was a “miscalculation”.
Mr Khan’s visit to Moscow was the first official state visit by a Pakistani head of government in two decades and coincided with the start of Russia’s war with Ukraine.
He said Pakistan made the decision to break its relationship with Russia but questioned whether it would “make any difference” to condemn Russia by leaving the country.
“Any conflict creates bloodshed,” he told Sky News host Piers Morgan.
“I’m sure if President Putin realised what was happening right now, he wouldn’t have started this operation.”
