A well-known comfort stop is the Afsaal picnic spot in Kruger National Park. This spot is situated 22,5 km from Malelane Gate on the H3 road towards Skukuza Camp. Here you can enjoy freshly homemade "ROOSTER KOEK" with a variety of fillings like "Bobotie" and "Boere Wors" all traditional meals to South Africa. The coffee station and a curio shop are available for the visitors. Afsaal is known for very good game watching in the area especially the Biamitie wear area. The book "Jock of the Bushveld" was written by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick in 1905 and mentions the track where they transport riders moved from Lydenburg to Maputo and Afsaal is one of this historical spots they used as a campsite. You can still follow some of this route on the H2-2 "Voortrekker Road" towards Pretoriuskop from Afsaal.
