The Office of the Vice President for Mission Integration (OVPMI) and the Office for Social Concern and Involvement (OSCI) present "Revisiting 'Ateneo in Service of the Nation' 50 Years After." In this talk, Fr Bienvenido F Nebres, SJ looks back on his path-breaking speech, "Ateneo in Service of the Nation," which he originally delivered in a Faculty Convocation in September 1974 as the Dean of the Ateneo College of Arts and Sciences. He reflects on the context, insights, proposals, and the impact of this speech as well as the continuing challenges for the Ateneo de Manila University today. This talk frames the series of events and activities marking ML@52 with the theme Tugon ng Sambayanan: Paglilingkod sa Kapwa.

Dr Ma Assunta C Cuyegkeng, Dr John Paul A Bolano, and Mr Lean C Rosendo also share their reactions to Fr Ben's reflections from the perspective of their own field(s) of interest, experiences, and engagements of service in the Ateneo and the country.

This historic event was held on 24 September 2024 at the Leong Hall Auditorium, Ateneo de Manila University.
