Tabo Monastery is situated at the height of 3280 Meter in Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh in north India. It is one of the oldest Buddhist Monastery in Spiti Valley. The monastery is known for its murals and stucco sculptures carved on the wall just like Ajanta Caves in Maharashtra. The monastery was founded in 996 AD by the great Tibetan Buddhist translator Rinchen Zangpo. Tabo is a small Village with a population of around 550. Tabo is just 48 Kms from Spiti headquarters Kaza. Tabo has beautiful caves in which Buddhist Monks used to meditate. Tabo apple is one of the best Apple in the world.

Best time to visit Tabo is From April To October.
