Our sincere gratitude to the legendary Vidwan Arun Kumar for being a part of Carnatic Collective and inspiring so many young musicians.

A derivative from the Sanskrit verse "Tanyate Vistarayate Iti Tanaha", Tanam is an art form that improvises and blends several idioms of Carnatic music : Raga Bhava, Madhurya, Laya and Kala. Originally developed for Veena, it was later adopted to other forms of Carnatic music expressions like Vocal, Flute, Violin, etc. A Tanam mainly comprises of constantly evolving Swara patterns with Melody and Rhythm. Just like Aalapana, Kriti rendition and Swara Prastara, Tanam also has several Baanis associated with it in Carnatic music legacy.

Carnatic Collective - a series curated by Udupa Foundation, has 15 episodes of Carnatic music involving an array of musicians. Each episode is stitched by pairing a maestro and the next generation musician. The foundation has created a unique platform and hopes to inspire the younger generation of artists by providing an opportunity to perform alongside a revered icon.
