Valve Lifter Tolerance and Compression Check overview on 2003 -2008 1.8L 1ZZ-FE engine. Covers basic steps to remove valve cover, check valve lifter lash, and engine compression. When I did the compression test I left the plugs out on the wet test so you hear how the engine slows when it gets to the cylinder under test.

This is one of the more involved checks for this type of engine and can provide a first step to competing other maintenance including, PCV replacement, Tensioner o-ring replacement, and checking timing chain tolerances.
