My thoughts and impressions of the S80:
The S80 is a comfortable, powerful, and upscale midsize sedan with a relaxing drive. It's quite practical for its class with a split-folding rear seat, a large and flexible interior, and storage consoles all around. I also like that it comes with a spare tire.
While not shown in the video, the straight-six turbocharged engine (which makes 300 hp. and 325 lb-ft. of torque) is smooth and gutsy, and the power is applied in a well-balanced fashion through its AWD drivetrain. The 6-speed automatic transmission, however, dampens the mood with its slow gear changes, even in manual mode. Steering is neutral and secure, as expected in a Volvo.
Overall, the S80 feels very much like a European (or Swedish) Lexus ES with more gusto.
