The Steyr-Daimler-Puch Pandur is a 6x6 configuration wheeled combat vehicle (6x4 on roads) which can only be described as a multi-purpose for it was developed to fullfil a wide variety of combat roles, with all variants sharing the same automotive components. Developed as a private venture, the first example appeared in 1985. Since then a series of pre-production variants have been produced to demonstrate a number of roles, from unarmed ambulance, to various turreted models mounting weapons from 12.7 mm machine guns to 30 mm cannon.
