Arweave has one of the most fascinating mechanisms we have yet seen: Adaptive Interactive Incentive Agents (AIIA). This comes from a close study of the BitTorrent protocol and their optimistic tit-for-tat strategy, which was challenged by an adaption called BitTyrant, and subsequently improved. Arweave has adapted this improved tit-for-tat strategy for sharing bandwidth and used it to incentivise generally pro-social behaviour.
Sam joins us to look closely at this open, non-coercive mechanism, try to tease out some of its subtleties, and then use this to illustrate how careful mechanism design at the protocol level can result in really interesting applications of tokens.
