Adree Smit’s story is quite remarkable and this is how it all started. When she was in standard 5, she had contracted rheumatic fever and was admitted to hospital for 2 months. While she recovered in hospital and before she was discharged, she offered to clean the water bottles and bed pans to the patients. She knew from a young age that she wanted to enter the medical field and by the time she was eighteen-years-old, she was already volunteering at Van der Bijl Park Hospital. By the time she had completed school she immediately started her training at the Van der Bijl Park Nursing home....
