In this 4 week series facilitated by Fr. Derek, we’ll be exploring the First and Second Books of Maccabees to better understand the historical events behind the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. First and Second Maccabees are part of the Apocrypha, a collection of texts often unknown and misunderstood. While Protestants and Jews read these texts to better learn their history, they do not consider them to be Holy Scripture. The Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches, on the other hand, include them in their Bible. Join us for a fascinating discussion about these often forgotten texts as we hear the story of Hanukkah.
