STORYLINE:
A few elderly Georgians who survived Russia bombing their village are surviving on food given to them by local Orthodox priests.
Russia bombed Tkviavi, seven and a half miles (11 kilometres) south of the South Ossetia's capital Tskhinvali on August 9th, the day after they invaded Georgia's breakaway region.
Whilst many younger residents in Tkviavi fled the violence, the old were left to survive as best they could.
"This is the dead town or village, I do not know how you call it, but it is a hell here," one elderly woman told AP Television.
Other villagers claimed that after the bombing, Russian and South Ossetian troops entered the village, and South Ossetian troops looted it.
AP Television has no way to verify their claims.
Whilst those remaining in the village do have access to water they have to rely on food from Georgian Orthodox priests who are able to negotiate a nearby Russian military checkpoint.
Russia has pulled the bulk of its troops and tanks from its small southern neighbour after the brief but intense war, but it has built up its forces in and around two separatist regions - South Ossetia and Abkhazia - and left other military posts deep inside Georgia.
