Defying Pakistan and China’s objections, India is all set to host G20 meetings in J&K from May 22. India’s move to host G20 meetings in J&K has rattled Pakistan as the debt-ridden country boycotted the events. Recently, the Pakistan Foreign Ministry issued a statement and strongly condemned India’s decision. Meanwhile, former Pakistani diplomat, Abdul Basit has urged its Govt to issue a ‘demarche’ asking other countries to boycott G20 events. Earlier, China had expressed its objection over India’s decision to hold G20 meets in Leh, Srinagar. The then Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian urged India to "avoid politicizing" the issue. Notably, China had not attended the G20 meetings held in Arunachal Pradesh and issued objection to India’s action.
