Here are 3 bad things that happen when a Christian and a non-believer get into a romantic relationship together.
1. They Become Unequally Yoked
Christians, by definition, are followers of Christ (Matthew 16:24, John 10:4-5). Non-believers, according to Jesus, are actually followers of Satan (John 8:44, Ephesians 2:2, 1 John 5:19).
Therefore, a true Christian and a non-Christian will always have strife together. If there is peace in a romantic relationship between an unbeliever and a believer, it means the believer is rebelling against God.
For as 2 Corinthians 6:14 states, “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?”
2. The Relationship Will Be Forced
Many Christians try to date an unbeliever to change them into a Christian. But trying to change someone so they are the person you want them to be is selfish.
Additionally, someone who becomes a Christian so they can date a Christian oftentimes falls away later on because their conversion was not genuine.
You can’t force a relationship to be something it’s not.
3. The Christian Will Fall Into Sin
1 Corinthians 15:33, “Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company ruins good morals.’”
