Our Lady's Island is a village on the south coast of Co. Wexford which is also a catholic pilgrimage site. It's the oldest Marian shrine in Ireland but it also has quite a bit of history to it even apart from the religious element. So there are a couple of castles and ruins to see and explore, as well as statues and shrines.
The walk itself is on a well trodden path around a small peninsula that juts out into the lake. It's a short, manageable walk and it's a really pleasant one too especially when the sun is shining! Keep an eye out for the swans and other wildlife as you stroll. There is plenty of parking in the village as well as shops, a cafe and public toilet facilities.
It's also worth mentioning that it is a site on the Norman Way route along the south Wexford coast. During the month of August each year, the village and site plays host to a pilgrimage so it can be extremely busy at these times.
