What to do in France Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur?
Тhe Castle of Les Baux, locally referred to as Château des Baux, is a fortified mansion erected during the tenth century, and situated in the Les Baux-de-Provence commune of southern France.

Тhe Castle of Les Baux is both off-beat and popular among tourists, both majestic and charmingly beautiful. It offers visitors a distinct blend of natural and culturally-historical encounters - to enrich the mind, to soothe the spirit, and inspire the imagination.

Today, we are Traveling in Pink, and the voyage is just as promising as ever.

The rich history of Château des Baux

The specific location of the fortified castle - on top of a rocky spur - had been inhabited as early as the Bronze age. Anyway, the first writings about the palace date back to Medieval times - the 10th century, to be precise.

From then on, the fortress and the small town it shields were under the rule of the lords of Baux for five hundred consecutive years. After the 15th century, it became a property of the barons of the Masons des Comtes de Provence, then fell under the authority of the kings of France. Ultimately, it was pulled down in the 17th century under the orders of Louis XIII.

It was not until the beginning of the 19th century that Château des Baux rose back again from its oblivion. It was used for scientific purposes until the very end of the 20th century when the local town council engaged in an essential mission: the site's re-construction, tourist management, cultural events, and ongoing promotion for tourists from all over the globe.
