Will Iran go to war with Israel?
Iran has threatened to take "revenge" on Israel over the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, prompting fears Tehran will launch a direct military strike on Tel Aviv.
The United States and other Western forces are working to avoid all-out war in the Middle East, but Iran is refusing to stand down.
Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said it was “our duty to take revenge” over the killing of Haniyeh, with numerous regional allies it can call upon — Hezbollah in Lebanon, Shia militants in Syria and Iraq, and Hoothi rebels in Yemen.
So is ‘all-out war’ a likely scenario, and what would further instability mean for Australia?
