Andy discusses all things oak regeneration and describes how a timber harvest can be very beneficial for oak regeneration. While oaks can innately regenerate, changes to natural ecosystem processes due to human influence has made it difficult for them grow from a seedling to a mature tree. With some help from proper silvicultural techniques (such as a timber harvest) and the re-introduction of natural disturbance regimes (such as controlled burns) oaks can be helped tremendously.
