Assembling your new MHX Carbon Fiber Push Pole couldn't be easier. Just follow this step-by-step guide or read them below.
NOTE: Please allow a full 24 hours for the epoxy to dry before using your MHX Carbon Fiber Push Pole.
1. PREP SECTIONS & FERRULES FOR EPOXY
To begin, we will prepare the inside sections of the push pole for adhesive. These sections may have a very thin layer of release agent left from the manufacturing process. So to remove this – take the included sheet of sand paper, and lightly remove any residue from the first 6” inside each push pole section at each end. Then, take a paper towel and wet it with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol or Denatured Alcohol and remove any final residue.
You will find that your kit includes 3 identical sized 1.375” OD poles, the only difference is that one of them has a silk screened “MHX” logo on it. The one with the logo is the center pole. The other two poles can go on either end.
Next, take two ferrules that will be used to join the pieces and put a mark in the middle
(6” from either end) using a light colored china marker or wax marker.
2. MIX EPOXY AND MOUNT FERRULES
Now you are going to glue ½ of the ferrule into the two end sections of push pole. These end pieces are the two sections without a logo silk screened on it. At this point, dry fit all of the pieces into each other to ensure that your pieces will go together properly. Take about ¼th of the two-part waterproof epoxy adhesive included and put it into one of the mixing cups provided. Proceed by mixing the two parts together thoroughly. After mixing 2 – 3 minutes, apply adhesive to the 6” of ferrule section that will go into the push pole.
3. COMPLETE PUSH POLE
WITH POINT AND FORK
INSTALLATION
The last step will be to assemble all three push pole sections. Mix another ¼th of the supplied two-part epoxy and stir well. Now you will apply this to the exposed portion of the ferrule pieces attached to the two end sections of the push pole. Apply the epoxy liberally to the ferrule section and insert it into the center piece of the pole. Remember while inserting the ferrule into the push pole’s center piece, to turn the part as you are putting it in for the best bond. Try to get at least one complete revolution while inserting.
Repeat the process for the 2nd ferrule connecting the end piece with the center section. At this point, we recommend running a strip of masking tape on each side of the connection about 6” up on each side. Then wrap a piece around the pole, securing the tape, holding it tight. This will help to keep the pole sections together during the expansion of the epoxy.
After waiting 1 – 2 hours, mix 1/4th of the epoxy adhesive and apply liberally to the Push Pole Point and Fork on the portion that is intended to fit inside the end of each pole. Conjoining one at a time, insert the tip, gently turning as you insert it to get a complete bond. Then repeat this process to mount the push pole fork on the opposite end.
Put securing tape on the Point and Fork so that the internal pressure and expansion won’t push it back out of the pole. Remember that now your pole is airtight inside and when you insert the final part the air pressure may cause the previously inserted part to push out.

THE REVIEWS ARE IN.
"Awesome would be the best word to say about the new MHX push poles. In all my years of guiding I would have to say that I have never found a push pole to be this good. The weight of this pole and the strength of it is amazing... This is a pole that even my daughter is able to pole the boat to give me some time on the front of the skiff. I would have to say I think this is the best push pole ever made."
