Hey friends,
What is Challah Bread you ask?
Well to put it briefly, it's a ceremonial sweet egg bread that is used to enter into Shabbat ('Erev (evening of) Shabbat'), Jewish Holidays and Feast days. It signifies God's double portion of Manna that He gave to the Hebrew's in the wilderness and serves as an active reminder of that faithful provision. So it's a Biblical thing as well as a Jewish thing! Both Jews and Judeo-Christians celebrate it throughout the world every Friday night to signify the beginning of the seventh day; the fourth Commandment within the Ten Commandments (Genesis 2:2-3; Exodus 19). Because God rested on the seventh day, we rest on the seventh day.
This was a big part of my experience celebrating Shabbat in Israel every week! If you haven't read my experience and testimony of being there, you can go over it here:- [ Ссылка ]
Though this bread is a tradition (originated in Eastern Europe by the Ashkenazi Jewish community), I think it signifies something that is so precious to both the Jewish people and the Christian people...God's continual provision and faithfulness to us in all facets of our lives. Yahweh tells us many times to remember Him and his mighty works, and I think this is part of that remembering.
What better way to remember God's works than with this delicious egg bread! Am I right?
