The 3News Weather Team says Northeast Ohio should expect an onslaught of heavy rain riddled with storms this afternoon. Storms are expected to include damaging winds up to 75 mph, heavy rain, hail up to 2+", and the threat for tornadoes.
Far western counties Erie, Huron and Loran will be in line with the first storm that pops up with wind gusts and heavy rain. This is likely to be a sudden onset as the system roars southeast.
FORECAST | Strong to severe storms possible later today
Next up will be central areas of northeast Ohio, including Cuyahoga, Medina, and Summit counties (our most populated areas). Again, the main threats will be gusts exceeding 60 mph, which fall within our severe thunderstorm warning threshold. A higher level threat will also be both heavy rain and hail. The greatest threat above all, is tornadoes. Between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. we can expect this activity.
